The much-talked about Ranveer Singh’s second release under the YRF banner, Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl, where he plays a conman, has opened to mixed responses from both, critics and the audience. However, the actor is undeterred. He plans to work with the director of his debut film Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) and this Friday’s release, Maneesh Sharma, once more in order to complete a trilogy.
“We have so much fun on the sets. Maneesh has this superb energy. He has his own entertaining way of getting scenes across to the actors. And then, when Anushka and I or any other actor in the film enacts it on camera, it comes out so well,” he gushes, adding, “I am supposed to be doing another YRF film, hopefully next year. I haven’t been told as yet what that film would be and who would direct it and who my co-stars would be. But it will be a thrilling ride if it combines Anushka, Maneesh and me.”
Towards the end of the current month, the actor will be paired opposite actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter, actor Sonakshi Sinha, for a period romance titled Lootera. The film’s shooting will be completed towards the end of February or early March next year. Before the project was even announced with the lead pair, headlines had it that the duo was dating briefly and had broken up before being paired romantically for the movie.
“My parents aren’t Bollywood people. So they got rattled in the early days. Now, they’re quite used to such fake stories about their son. As for Sonakshi, her parents and brothers know that there is no truth to the supposed headlines,” says Ranveer, adding, “I’m looking forward to working with Sonakshi. She seems sorted with her work. But I have to admit, Anushka brings out the best in me on screen. Our chemistry, I feel, is one of the best you’ll find. We fight, hang around together and know each other’s pulse really well. We appear natural in front of the camera. I hope I don’t get beaten for saying this but she’s really my favourite co-star.”
