Exclusive: Abhishek Bachchan doesn't want to work in remakes of dad's filmsAbhishek Bachchan’s Bollywood journey started on a low note, but soon the actor had the right kind of scripts and directors to work with. He proved to the nation that an unshaved look can also work onscreen. The first major hit for Abhishek was ‘Yuva’ opposite Rani Mukerji in 2004.

After that film there was no looking back for the actor and he gave back to back hits like ‘Dhoom’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Bluffmaster’, ‘Guru’ and many more. He is the newest daddy in town and is completely excited about Beti B. In an exclusive interview with DailyBhaskar.com, Abhishek talks about his latest offering- Players and the idea of remaking his father’s films.

What according to you is the USP of ‘Players’? I think the biggest USP of the film are the directors, Abbas-Mustan. They are one of the oldest directors in the industry and have made very successful films. The style and the genre of the film are the other USPs. Who do you think is the real player in the film? I am the real ‘Player’ of the film (laughs).

This film is a remake of The Italian Job, so what new is being served to the audience? Yes, this is the official remake of The Italian job. We have taken the basic story, but have changed some elements of the film. We have added the Bollywood flavour to it with some extraordinary stunts, good music and dance.

There are a lot of Hollywood films being remade in India these days, what do you have to say about it? Indian films give different entertainment to the audience and they cannot be compared with anything. In fact, I can list a number of Hollywood films that which are inspired from Indian cinema. I would say that it is a creative field and in this, sharing of ideas is really very important.

Tell us one memorable moment that you remember while shooting for Players? There is no single memorable moment as such. The whole process of filmmaking is memorable, I cannot pinpoint one.

The remake of Agneepath is hugely anticipated. Which one of your father's films would you want to work in? No director gives me the offer to work in a remake of my father’s film (laughs). Truly, I wouldn’t want to be in any of the films which have been done by dad. I don’t think I will be able to match that caliber as they are legendry and cult films.

What are the genres you are comfortable in? It doesn’t really matter what genre I am comfortable in, it’s only about good work. There is a saying ‘Does life imitate art or art imitates life.’ We see life and make films, so we should always learn and make new and different films.

You have worked with Mani Ratnam and now Abbas-Mustan. What are the similarities and dissimilarities between them? I cannot compare the two. Every director has a different approach towards his film and the pattern in which they work. They both have different sensibilities and I would love to work with them time and again.
