It is not very often that Lata Mangeshkar appreciates someone's physical beauty. The nightingale sticks to the person's talent and how he/she was on the inside. Dev Anand is however an exception for Lata. The legendary singer doesn't have any qualms in admitting, she found the late icon 'handsome'.

In conversation with TOI.com, the legendary singer said, "Dev Anand was the most handsome actor Hindi cinema ever saw. He was extremely well mannered and well spoken. He read books, newspapers.. kept himself updated with the current happenings. He was extremely passionate about making films; nothing deterred him from following his dreams. He never looked back, his past glory. He never regretted anything."

Lata added, "I was not able to meet him but we would keep in touch over the phone." Lata regrets skipping the premiere of Dev Anand's coloured version of Hum Dono. "I was travelling at the time and couldn't make it for the premiere. I apologized to him later" recalls Lata.

The late actor rated Lata and Asha as equal. Dev Anand once said, "I'd rate them as equals. There are songs that only Asha can sing and vice versa. Both are brilliant." Lata also revealed how the actor was extremely fond of classical music.
