Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has got two super hits to her credits in 2011. In the two films, Bodyguard and Ra.One, Kareena played the lead lady role and both the films raked in over Rs 100 crore each. Kareena Kapoor was offered the lead role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming movie Heroine twice. Having done two hits for the year and cashing good run at the box office, the actress has decided to hike her fee. She rejected the offer as the producers could not agree for the fee. However, the issue is cleared out and she is apparently getting over Rs 7 crore for the movie, Heroine.
If the reported amount is true, Kareena will replace Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Bollywood’s highest paid female actor, according to trade sources. The latter had starred alongside Rajinikanth in Robot last year for a reported fee of around Rs 6 crore. When Kareena was asked about the payment for the movie she said, “Till date, I’ve never discussed my pay cheque in the media. But for Heroine, I am getting only what I rightly deserve,” she says with a smile.
Aishwarya was the original choice for Heroine’s lead role; Kareena stepped into the project once Aishwarya backed out after announcing she was pregnant. Nonetheless, she is looking forward to her role: “My character in the film is me. It’s something I can relate to, and so I hope I will be able to do it well.” After several hiccups, the journey of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine has finally taken off. Excited and nervous Kareena Kapoor started Day 1 of the shoot on Saturday after celebrating Arjun Rampal’s birthday, who plays the hero of the movie.
