Actor Vidya Balan was in town on Friday for the promotion of The Dirty picture organised by 94.3 Radio One. She spoke in length about her role in the movie, and her appearance in South Indian films. Said Vidya, "There is no obvious similarity between Silk Smitha and The Dirty Picture. This film is not exactly based on the biopic of the acclaimed actress of 1980's. Silk Smitha was the only actor who was not apologetic being sensual. But the characterisation in this film is completely based on the script."

Vidya also expressed that her role in the film was extremely challenging as she had to get into the shoes of Silk Smita. When asked about her choice between Parineeta and The Dirty picture, she said, "I can't choose anything over Parineeta, as it was the first movie that brought me here today.

"Sharing her views about being an actor and experimenting with her roles in the recent years, Vidya added, "There is sense of fulfillment. I joined films to experience life of different people on screen. Today I have got an ample opportunity to meet completely different people on-screen." The actor felt that she has done justice to the character in the film." Vidya, who has done a cameo role in the Malayalam film dedicates it to her parents. "I have been getting offers from South Indian film industries. I am not being able to take up the movie because of time constraints. If there are good scripts then I wouldn't miss the opportunity, " she added.
