Shah Rukh Khan may inaugurate Iffi 2011Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is expected to inaugurate the 42nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) in Goa.Confirming this, festival director Shankar Mohan said, "Shah Rukh Khan has been invited as the chief guest for Iffi 2011." Khan had inaugurated the 38{+t} {+h} edition of the festival in 2007. This is the eighth year in succession that iffi is being held in Goa.

Mohan said renowned French actor Bertrand Tavernier will also receive a lifetime achievement award of Rs 10 lakh at the festival.Promising a "change in the face of the festival" this year, Mohan told reporters that there will be an added impetus on the use of technology and a section of 3D films along with another on animated films at the festival.To increase the involvement of the general public, the Iffi secretariat has planned a special section on public screening of films based on 'Soccer in Cinema'. It's been created keeping in mind the popular sport in Goa.

"Everything has been done keeping Goa in mind," Mohan told TOI. He said organizers were looking at holding the screenings at the Campal football ground, and felt the screenings, to be held every evening from 8pm to 10pm, will enhance awareness of cinema among the public.Films under this section are South Korean film 'A Barefoot Dream' directed by Kim Tae-gyun; Brazilian film 'Mario Filho, Creators of Crowd' directed by Oscar Maron Filho; Italian film 'Foot of God directed by Louis Sardiello; Argentina-USA film 'Argentina Futbol Club' directed by Juan Pablo Rubio, German film 'The Best Women in the World' directed by Britta Becker; South African film 'More Than Just a Game' directed by Junaid Ahmed, French film 'Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait' directed by Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parrenodsax.

Kannada film 'Bhageerathi' directed by Baraguru Ramchandrappa and Marathi film 'Bharat Mazza Desh Aahe' directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar will be the Indian films premiering at IFFI 2011. Earlier, a roadshow to promote Iffi was flagged off at the hands of Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar. Kavlekar said, "There are 10-12 days for Iffi. The roadshow has been organised to create an atmosphere for the festival. The roadshow will travel throughout Goa."
