The Kiss has been shot and Tusshar Kapoor admits that it’s shaped up pretty well. He flew down from Rajasthan, where he was filming Sameer Karnik’s rom-com Char Din Ki Chandni, to lock lips with Vidya Balan in Milan Luthria’s upcoming fictionalised biopic, The Dirty Picture.

“It was the middle of the night and the studio was teeming with junior artistes. Vidya was nervous but professional. For her sake, all I could think about was getting my expressions right in the first shot so we could wrap the kiss up as quickly as possible, without having to go through any retakes. It was more mechanical than emotional, but at the same time, we had to ensure that it looked spontaneous,” the actor reminisces, pointing out that he also had to consider the reactions of his screen brother, played by Naseeruddin Shah, who is privy to this moment of intimacy.

“He was not in the studio that night, but he’s in the same frame in the film and was very much on my mind.” Tusshar’s come out of the film a self-confessed fan of Vidya’s acting. “She has lived the role without any traces of inhibition or awkwardness. Her sexy performance is at par with Rekha’s in films like Umrao Jaan (1981) and Khoon Bari Maang (1988). It’s completely effortless and natural,” he raves.

The film’s music was launched yesterday, and Tusshar took the stage with Vidya and Emraan Hashmi. While Vidya, Naseer and Emraan get to sing and dance in true filmi style, Tusshar’s track is more dramatic than romantic. He says, “It’s not so much about love, as it is about upping the shock quotient.”
