Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor got a welcome befitting rock royalty by students of University Of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), but his fleeting appearance did not impress everyone on the campus.
Kapoor, 29, could visit the campus for little more than five minutes only, while the students were expecting it to be an hour-long interaction. His promotional activities included jamming to ``Sadda Haq`` - the popular anthem from his latest film ``Rockstar`` for a few seconds with a student musician and mouthing, "I love you" to students.
"We are very disappointed because we had this entire programme including a performance from a student band, question and answer session with the star and a contest planned. But he just came and left. Students just waited for hours and hours for this," Gulf News quoted marketing manager of UOWD, Naheed Malek as saying.
Apparently, Kapoor``s ``blink-and-miss-`` appearance was triggered when he saw the sea of frenzied students and panicked. "The reason they told was that Ranbir [Kapoor] was very upset because the crowd was going crazy. But it``s a school campus, so it``s expected," Malik added.
Anirudh Patni, who is the drummer for the university band ``Bolly Beats``, was equally disappointed. "We had prepared for three weeks so that we could perform in front of Ranbir. But he just came and left. I came all the way from the Abu Dhabi campus, what a waste of time," Patni was quoted as saying. However, his female fans were far more forgiving. "I love Ranbir and I am his biggest fan," a student Rakshita Krishna said. "He made us wait for more than two hours and just disappeared so quickly. But I still think he``s cute," Renuka Amarnani said.
