The Southern Telegu actress, Ileana D'Cruz will make her Hindi film debut in Anurag Basu's Barfee starring Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. She is playing the narrator of the film and gives Iileana her the opportunity to act in a more offbeat, controversial role that might not be available in Telegu films. The actress told the Hindustani Times that she loved the script when Basu first narrated it to her. Adding, "It's a very unconventional role and I didn't really expect it to come my way as this is my Bollywood debut."
She's beginning her Bollywood career loyal to Ranbir and ignoring tabloid gossip and rumors. While Ileana has been offered many Bollywood roles in the past, it is Barfee that finally caught her attention. With so much praise for Ranbir, perhaps that was the selling point.
"Even before I met him, I had enjoyed his films such as Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Rajneeti (2010)" she tells Hindustan Times. As a die-hard fan she comments "I don't really pay attention to what's being said or written about a star. How does that make a difference to his profession? I am sure Ranbir will be a dream co-star"
Ileana may also be starring in the Telegu remake of 3 Idiots this year.
