Doc on call to keep Vidya Balan goingWhen Vidya Balan kick starts a pan-India promotional tour for her upcoming film, The Dirty Picture, she will have a standby doctor to attend to her at all times. The decision was taken by the film's producer Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria because Vidya, who was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital around Dusshera with low hemoglobin level, is yet to be fully fit. The publicity campaign will start around mid-November and the much-hyped film is slated to open worldwide on December 2.

"The Dirty Picture is Vidya's film since she, plays the central role of the eighties sex siren Silk Smitha in the biopic. Naturally, the publicity campaign cannot be conceptualized without her. At the same time, the makers of the film cannot ignore Vidya's health. So, a decision has been taken to have a doctor on call at all hours for her while she is touring to promote the film," an industry source said.

Producer Ekta is not willing to reveal details about the film's promotional tour yet except the fact that apart from Vidya her male co-stars, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi will also be a part of it. Interestingly, the same doctor won't tour along with Vidya.

"The filmmakers have negotiated with a reputed doctor in each city that the unit will be touring. The doctor will be available as and when needed," a source said. Vidya was hospitalized around Dusshera owing to ill health. She had been complaining of excessive exhaustion and dizzy spells when her parents took her to the doctor. Tests revealed low hemoglobin level and the actress was immediately hospitalized.

She was discharged after a few days but doctors advised complete rest, which of course hasn't been possible, given her busy promotional schedule. "The film is at a crucial stage at the moment and the production unit cannot afford to disrupt shooting. Considering the current hectic schedule could take its toll when it comes to the upcoming promotional activity, medical help should be at hand," the source added.
