It seems that the BCCI national selectors have taken lesson from the humiliating defeat in England tour and decided to rest the unfit players till they recover hundred percent. The squad for home ODI series against England is announced and K Srikanth-led national selectors have rested as many as seven senior players (Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel and Harbhajan Singh) and shown faith on youngsters. However, it was a real surprise and warning call for Indian ‘Turbanator’ Harbhajan Singh, who was dropped from the squad despite of being fit. Whereas it was major loss for off colour Harbhajan Singh, it was a major gain for young Jalandhar lad Rahul Sharma, who got a maiden call to national squad. Rahul Sharma's inclusion in the national team is also threat call for leg spinner Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla. Selectors have shown faith on Rahul, ignoring experience of leg spinners like Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla.
Rahul Sharma's performance in IPL has finally paid for him. Playing for Pune Warriors, Rahul Sharma was the most successful bowler in the tournament. He grabbed the eyeballs with his ability to bowl variety of deliveries in the IPL 2011. After Anil Kumble, Team India has been struggling to find a quality leg spinner. However, Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla have given ample of opportunity but they failed to deliver. Rahul Shrama has a golden opportunity to prove his metal in this series. Samaylive team wishes all the best to Rahul for ODI series against England, beginning from October 14.
