It was a music launch of a different kind. Actor Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali paid a special tribute to poet Amir Khusro at the poet’s tomb in Hazrat Nizamuddin complex in New Delhi. Singer Mohit Chauhan and producer Hiren Gandhi of Shree Ashtavinayak accompanied Ranbir and Imtiaz to the place known for its soul searching music.
The team, of ‘Rockstar’ prayed for the success of the film at the shrine and interacted with the locals there. Ranbir also strummed the guitar and hummed a few lines from the film. While music composer of the film, AR Rahman was also supposed to visit the shrine with them, he had to opt out at the last moment due to prior commitments.
When a daily contacted Imtiaz, he said “We are at the Dargah right now. We just thought we should seek blessings of one of the biggest and best musician this country has ever produced through this song we along with AR Rahman have created. Rahman sir speaks very highly of Hazrat Nizamuddin and Aamir Khusro.” Both Imtiaz and Rahman are regular visitors to the shrine. And since the film is all about the passion of music, they felt it would be apt to pay homage at the holy place and pray for its success.
