Yash Raj Film's Mere Brother Ki Dulhan starring Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar had run into problems with a Stay Order being enforced on the release of the film. However, on Thursday, the Sessions Court refused to stay the release of the film after a civil suit filed by BG Jadhav claimed the movie trailer had a scene that went against public health. While the court admitted the suit, it refused to grant Jadhav's demands to stay the release of the film.
The case filed by Jadhav, had moved court claiming that the scene which shows Katrina Kaif smoking a bidi was sending a bad message to the public. The reason being taken into consideration was the impact that film personalities have on the young and the extent of their influence.
Jadhav's lawyer argued that the young generation imitates its film idols, such a scene promoted smoking. In his suit, Jadhav, named producer Aditya Chopra, director and writer Ali Abbas Zafar, Katrina Kaif, Yash Raj films Pvt Ltd and others as respondents. However, the court agreed that while the suit could be admitted, there was no enough ground to stay the release of the film.The matter will come up for hearing on September 30. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan releases in theatres today.
