Tushaar Kapoor say sorry to Preity Zinta: Actor Tushaar Kapoor is in news and not all of it is pleasant. The actor first created a stir when he commented upon Preity Zinta being the most botoxed actor in Bollywood on a TV show recently.
"I said it in good humour and I wonder why such a brouhaha was made out of it. She's lost a lot of weight and she's looking so good, so I just said it on the spur of the moment." In fact, Preity too took offence to it and apparently called up Tushaar and complained about it. "Yes, she did call me up and say that it wasn't in good taste and she understood that I said it in jest, but I shouldn't have said it on national TV. I apologized to her and now all is well between us," says Tushaar, who was in Lucknow recently.
Then, there was news about how the actor has been turned out of his home by his parents. "I have to have non-veg in my diet as I am following a strict dietary regimen for body building for a new film that I've signed. Since my parents observe the Navratris very diligently, I moved out so as not to hurt their religious sentiments. It's a family matter and I wouldn't to talk about it more," says the actor.
On the work front, things are looking up for Tushaar, though he admits he's so far been stuck in the comedy mode, "especially after the "Golmaal" series". But he adds, "Just wait and watch. I'll be back with much more to offer as an actor. Starting with "Shor..." I'm beginning to experiment. "Shor..." is a dark comedy and I'm playing a small-time crook in it. It's a different role from what I've done in my other films. I have also signed a film with Rajshri productions, which is a love story. Then I have "Love You Mr Kalaakar", "Hum Tum Aur Shabana" and " Dirty Picture" which are all different genres. I have also signed a film with the Bhatts and Sagar Bellary. I have a lot in my kitty. So now, I will be known as an actor instead of just a comedian," says Tushaar.
In fact, Tushar is trying to break out of several moulds. While it's generally perceived that the actor mostly does films for the home banner, Tushar is quick to defend himself. "I have signed films with other production houses. In fact I have done "Shor...", a home production after three years. So it's not as if I'm only doing Balaji films. See, I sign a film if I'm comfortable with the team I have to work with. If my role is good, it will make an impact and if my colleagues are those I'll be comfortable working with, I won't think twice before signing the film. Then it doesn't matter what production house it is," says he emphatically. And that's why the actor is keen on producing his own films. "A few years down the line I want to start producing films. I am in the process of reading scripts. Films are something I have grown up with and I don't think I can do anything else except act or produce films."
But that's a lot of professional talk. Work apart, Tushaar says he's "single and very ready to mingle". But that's such a tried and tested line! "In the course of life you meet a lot of people and you find someone interesting and want to take the relationship to another level. There are a few people who fit that bill in my life, but there's nothing serious as of now," says Tushaar.
