Harbhajan hits back at Hair's suspect action remarks Harbhajan Singh hit back at former umpire Darrell Hair on Wednesday for claiming that the off-spinner's action is suspect. The 58-year old Australian had earlier launched an attack on Bhajji and Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar, claiming that the two will always have suspect actions.

Harbhajan believed that the comments were an attempt by Hair to gain some publicity after being out of favour for over two years. "I don't really care about what anybody is writing. I am not bothered by what they write as they usually do so to sell their books", said the off-spinner.

This is not the first time that Hair has got into a confrontation with Asian players. His first notable attack was on legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan in the 1995 Boxing Day Test against Australia when he adjudged a delivery to be a no-ball for chucking. The ICC later released a jurisdiction barring him from all Sri Lanka matches after reported death threats. Hair was also involved in an incident when he fined the Pakistan side 5 runs against England for ball-tampering on the basis of the marks on the ball. The Pakistan side led by Inzamam ul Haq did not return to the ground in disapproval of the judgement. England were declared winners by forfeiture. What followed was a string of meetings to decide the eventual outcome of the entire incident. Inzamam was acquitted of the ball tampering charges but was fined for bringing disrepute to the game. In November, Hair was banned from officiating in international matches by the ICC. Since his exit, Hair has continued his stance despite being criticised by former cricketers and expert. In 2010, the Australian had called the Pakistan side 'Cheats and Liars' and criticised the ICC for failing to establish its control over the game.
