Bollywood actor Vishal Thakkar was booked by police on Sunday, after it was alleged that he had raped an Indian television actress in his house. Charkop police station’s senior inspector Ramchandra Gaikwad revealed that a case was registered against Vishal Thakkar under the relevant sections of rape on Saturday. Vishal Thakkar has acted in small roles in films such as Tango Charlie and Chandni Bar. Without divulging into much details, the victim alleged that she had been raped by Thakkar in his house. FIR has been registered against the Bollywood actor under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 323, 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Following t he woman’s statement, we have registered a rape case and several other relevant sections of the Indian penal code have been added,” said Ramchandra Gaikwad, senior inspector, Charkop police station. “We are looking for him and will arrest him soon,” Gaikwad added. India has been time and again highlighted in the media for its various rape cases. In 2012, Jyoti Singh, a medical student was raped by six men on a bus and subsequently killed. Another notorious case of alleged rape emerged when an American student claimed that Bollywood director Mahmood Farooqui had raped her.
