Can never produce TV shows: Big BAmitabh Bachchan, after hosting four seasons of Kaun Banega Crorepati (two on Star Plus, and two on Sony Entertainment) and one season of Bigg Boss (Colors), admits he can never produce TV shows.

The actor, under contract for one more season of the reality-game show that went on air a week ago, says, “I don’t think I have the talent or the acumen for it. I don’t think I am capable of designing a TV programme, although it’s something that I have dabbled with in the past. It’s something that requires a certain set of talent, which I don’t believe I have.” The superstar, who turns 69 this October 11, recalls having worked on the small screen back in the 1990s in the United Kingdom in collaboration with TV Asia. “I dabbled with satellite TV many years before this generation of journalists covering TV was born. We had a great association and we took it to the United States of America too. But eventually, I quit it mid-way purely because I didn’t know how to run it,” says Bachchan.

“I don’t think I’ll ever design a programme. But Jaya did. As her family and her husband, we’re all proud of it. Dekh Bhai Dekh was a cult show. And it wouldn’t have become one if it didn’t have the potential to. I think even today, if Jaya wants to, she can produce shows. I’m sure she’ll have some brilliant ideas too,” he adds.

Meanwhile, Bachchan has been busy shooting for the game show’s fifth edition at Film City. He will also be back for the sixth edition, sometime next year. Would he like to continue with the exercise on more seasons? “I don’t know,” he says. “After the sixth season, if the channel wants me to return, we will talk. Till then, it won’t be correct to comment.”

The previous season of the show only had a single crorepati, a housewife from the interiors of Bihar. Does he see the number increasing this time, since the season is comparitively longer? “With the flexibility of the format this time, I think the number could be more,” says Bachchan, pointing out that seasons four and five are much shorter than seasons one and two. “We only had two crorepatis in over a hundred episodes each. So, one crorepati in 30 episodes is not bad.”
