Writer-director Prawaal Raman is busy with the post production of his upcoming film, 'Main Aur Charles', with Randeep Hooda as the notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj and it's USP being his famous jail break from Tihar in 1986. Next up is a film based on Dr Ajoy Kumar's journey from an MBBS degree holder to a meritorious career as an IPS officer and then an MP. Kumar was transferred to Jamshedpur from Patna and was successful in bringing down the crime rate in the city. The media dubbed him the `encounter specialist'. Thereafter, he joined a leading automobile company as a senior executive and in 2011 was elected to the Lok Sabha from Jamshedpur.
He lost to his BJP rival in the 2014 LS election, but the doctor-turned-copturned politician's journey is still the stuff celluloid dreams are woven of, according to Prawaal. He has spoken to Randeep Hooda to play Kumar and the actor, despite having played cop roles earlier, is excited. "This isn't another cop tale or a biopic. It is a love story that plays out against the backdrop of organised crime and politics. It focuses as much on Ajoy as his better half, Reena Arya," says Prawaal. He has met Chitrangada Singh twice to play Reena. They are creatively in agreement but the casting is yet to be locked."Both are fine actors and apt for the parts. Also, it's a pairing we haven't seen before," says Prawaal who having worked on the script for two years, is ready to flag off early next year.
