Kochadaiiyaan was supposed to be a great launch pad for the dimpled B-town beauty Deepika Padukone. The pretty lass had pinned lot of hopes on Kochadaiiyaan as it gave her the rare chance of being superstar Rajinikanth’s onscreen lady love. But alas, all hopes came down crashing when the poor girl Deepika became butt of all jokes on Twitter. After receiving harsh criticism for being a mere caricature of herself in Kochadaiiyaan, by the filmi punters and some scathing remarks from fans about her animated avatar, the Chennai Express star is not just miffed with Kochadaiiyaan makers but whole of Kollywood. A little birdie chirped that the model-turned-actor turned down an offer to play Vijay’s heroine in his upcoming film. The film directed by Chimbu Devan of Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi fame is touted to be a fantasy film with Southern superstar in the lead role.
After Deepika’s refusal, we hear the role is now in Simbu’s ex-girlfriend Hansika Motwani‘s kitty. Hansika and Vijay shared great chemistry when they appeared together for the first time in Velayudham. Vijay’s 58th film is a grand project with stars like Sridevi and Kannada superstar Sudeep in crucial roles. It is beyond any doubt that there is a huge scope of improvement in animation graphics used in Indian cinema as Kochadaiiyaan left us with lot to be desired. However it is still unclear whether Deepika is miffed with Kollywood or angry at the CGI used in fantasy flicks like Kochadaiiyaan. Whatever may be the reason, it’s not fair that Deepika has decided to punish the entire Tamil industry. Or is it simply that her career in Bollywood is taking good shape and she doesn’t want the big flops down South to play a dampener in her filmi resume.
