Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who had earlier refused to show his upcoming movie 'Not A Love Story' to Maria Susairaj, is now ready to screen it for the actress.
“I refused to show Not a love story to Maria because she was threatening legal action but now it has been kept aside so I want to voluntarily show her the film. I am really keen to show Maria Susairaj the film on the basis of like I always maintained that it has been inspired from her story,” said the director, who is known for courting controversy ahead of his releases. 'Not a Love Story' is a crime thriller, inspired by gruesome murder of television executive, Neeraj Grover, in 2008. Maria, who was sentenced to three years in jail by a Mumbai court for destroying evidence in the May 2008 killing of Grover, was released from jail last month.
Her co-accused and fiance, ex-naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew was sentenced to 10 years' jail term. Earlier, Maria and Emile sent legal notices saying that Varma did not have right to release a film based on their life without their consent.
“I would like to see Maria's reaction on the film on account of how close her emotional state would have been to that of Mahee Gill's character,” added Varma. The film which features Mahi Gill, Deepak Dobriyal and Ajay Gehi, is set to release on August 19.
