Hema Qureshi is one Bollywood stunner who has earned her spurs in films like Gangs Of Wasseypur series, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and Ek Thi Daayan. She is a dynamic combination of good-looks and fine acting credentials. That's precisely why when Karan Razdan planned on making a biopic on the yesteryear legendary actress, Meena Kumari, the first name that flashed across his mind was that of Huma Qureshi.
Having made films like Bhatti On Chutti and Mittal Vs Mittal, Razdan's next venture will reportedly revolve around the Tragedy Queen. Though it's been stated that the director is ploying with the idea of casting Qureshi in the lead role, the actress hasn't been approached for the project yet. One of the most promiment actresses in the history of Hindi cinema, Meena Kumari played iconic roles in films like Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam and Daera.
The exotic beauty, whose personal life wasn't as exciting as her professional life, died of liver cirrhosis in 1972, when she was just 39.When asked Razdan about the film, he said, "I have spent about four years to do the research and write the script. We have just finished the script and we will start shooting from early next year." Adding, the director underlined, "Meena Kumari's life and her journey has been very fascinating. We want someone who could justify her role and I think Huma Qureshi will fit the bill. I want to cast her for the biopic. We have not approached her so far, but my team will be talking to her soon."
