On Tuesday the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued a stay order on the release of the adult-comedy Grand Masti in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh theatres. The film is scheduled to release across India on September 13.A petition was filed in the court against the content of the film which has been labelled as obscene including its vulgar dialogues. The plaintiff alleged that women have been portrayed in a derogatory manner in the promos of the film and the content stands against decency.

In the petition the lawyer petitioner also sought Central Board of Film Certification’s intervention to give a second thought about their approval to the film. Grand Masti, a sequel to the 2004 comedy Masti, stars Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani in the lead roles.
