The producers of Zanjeer surely have a reason to celebrate since the court ruled in their favour and has also allowed them to release the film on September 6. Writer duo Salim and Javed had filed a case against the producers, late Prakash Mehra's sons Sumeet and Puneet Mehra, for producing a remake without their consent as they claimed to own the rights of the film. Also, they had demanded for a compensation of Rs. 6 crores when the remake was announced. However, the Bombay High Court apparently ruled out the case of the writers on the basis of lack of evidence being submitted to them, on Monday afternoon.
Adding further, the lawyer of Mehra brothers Jayendra Kapadia also revealed that the court concluded the case by stating that the film completely belongs to its old producer Prakash Mehra and the writers have no claim over it. Zanjeer starring Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan is a bilingual film directed by Apoorva Lakhia which will release in Telugu as Thoofan.
