People longing to see Oman’s beauty in Bollywood flick

The much-awaited Bollywood flick Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai… Again, is set to be released in Oman today (Thursday). People in the Sultanate are eagerly looking forward to the film, parts of which were shot at Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai… Again and Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat. "The movie has generated amazing interest. We have been receiving constant enquiries about its release date. Since it is releasing (today), we expect a huge response," said Neha Dalal, manager, marketing, City Cinema. The movie will be screened at City Cinema screens in Ruwi, Al Shatti, MGM, Sohar and Salalah. Cinema goers are curious to watch how the locales of Oman have been captured in the movie. "Though many films have been shot in Oman, this is the first time that the Sultanate is part of a big budget film like this," said a long time resident, who is looking forward to catch the first day first show.  This sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has top Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre in lead roles. Reports indicate that much-in-demand actor Vidya Balan has a cameo role in the movie. Great coverage Ahead of the movie's release, Oman received a lot of coverage in the Indian media. The stars who shot for the movie in Oman were heard singing praises about the stunning locales of the country. In fact, the hero of the film, Akshay Kumar told reporters that he would be shooting more films in Oman.

"I have enjoyed myself thoroughly. I was there for the shooting but I thought I was on a vacation. I played a lot of water sports. I am going to be there for another film next year about which I will talk later. I feel a lot of people should travel there," Akshay had said. Co-star Sonakshi Sinha was also overawed by the place. "It's a beautiful place ... I was there for four days but in that short span of time, I came to love this place so much that it now tops my destination list for a holiday," she told reporters in India. Tourist destination Officials of Oman's Ministry of Tourism as well as the national carrier Oman Air, also recently addressed a press conference in Mumbai to promote the Sultanate as a destination for adventure holidays, film productions, and weddings. "We are also looking forward to seeing how the stunning country with its varied landscapes is captured by the Indian filmmaker Milan Luthria," said a Bollywood film buff. The Muscat-based Tour Oman (the in-bound tours division of Travel Point LLC), the country's national carrier Oman Air and the stunning beach-side hotel property, The Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, played vital roles in the arrangements for the shoot of the film.
