Bollywood’s beautiful diva Sridevi hits a half century today. The actress turns 50 and plans to celebrate it with her husband and daughters. Husband Boney Kapoor has a plan to throw a lavish bash. But it won’t be today. The party is planned for August 17 and it would celebrate, besides Sridevi’s birthday, a lot of other things. Boney Kapoor describes the bash as “a celebration of a good year”. A good year indeed it was for Sridevi. The lady made a comeback to films with the critically acclaimed English Vinglish. She’s also been turning a lot of heads with her stunning style statements. 50 going on 30? Won’t be an overstatement. Interestingly, Sridevi doesn’t like to make much of her birthdays. She admits that she doesn’t like cutting birthday cakes, but she loves the cards that her daughters Jhanvi and Khushi make for her every birthday. As for gifts, Sridevi says she buys them herself and later tells her hubby that it’s a gift from him to her.

Pretty smart, eh! Sridevi began acting in films when she was just a little girl of four. Her debut Hindi film was the 1975 flick Julie in which she was just a child artist. Over the late 1970s and early 1980s Sridevi established herself as a leading actress in Tamil and Telugu films. Her debut Hindi film as heroine was Solva Sawan in 1978. Thereafter she appeared in a string of commercially successful movies like Tohfa (1984), Karma (1986), Mr. India (1987), Chandni (1989), ChaalBaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991) and Khuda Gawah (1992).
