Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif seems to be running out of luck these days with big banner projects slipping out of her hands. And to make it worse, her alleged beau Ranbir Kapoor's ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone is bagging offers for which the British beauty was once considered. Recent buzz is that Deepika, who has been deemed the reigning queen of Bollywood after giving out back to back hits, has ousted Katrina from Tarun Manuskhani's "Dostana 2". Soon after sequel to "Dostana" was announced, reports emerged that Katrina will play the female lead in the film opposite John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan. This is not the first time that Deepika took up a film for which Katrina was initially offered. Recently, Katrina was said to have been replaced by the "Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani" star for Farah Khan directorial "Happy New Year" opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
While a lot of actresses were considered for the film, rumours were doing rounds that Katrina had been roped in by Farah for the female lead. But Katrina's date issues had cropped due to which Deepika was offered the role that would see her reunite with Shah Rukh for the third time after "Om Shanti Om" and "Chennai Express". Earlier, it was rumoured that both Katrina and Deepika were considered for filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's next opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Eventually, the dusky beauty was roped in for the project.
