Did politics never suit Shatrughan Sinha?

Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha has recently given embarrassing statements over the last week targeting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. In his latest remarks, Sinha said in an interview to a news channel that if popularity was the yardstick for choosing a leader, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan should become the President of India. While taking a jibe at Modi's elevation, Sinha backed BJP patriarch LK Advani for the prime minister's post. The actor-turned-politician even praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who recently parted ways with the BJP by describing him as the best "prime ministerial material".Last week, he even praised Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh while criticising his own party and colleagues. As far as popularity is concerned, in Bihar, Sinha is a more popular actor than Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpai even today. Often referred to as Bihari Babu, Sinha could never fit himself into politics in the right direction or we can say that he never took right decisions at the right time in politics. He never took his political career seriously and considered it as a 'part-time job'. Maybe because every political party in Bihar wants to keep him in its party owing to the star-studded popularity of Sinha.Let's share an instance of his admiration by his supporters.

During 1989 Lok Sabha elections, Shatrughan Sinha was scheduled to hold a rally along with Chandra Shekhar and Chaudhary Devi Lal. Since, Sinha took time to be ready to address the rally, the two luxurious cars took Chandra Shekhar and Devi Lal to the venue of the rally, leaving Sinha. Then, an ordinary car was arranged for Sinha to reach the venue, at the last moment, but he refuse to go in that car. After knowing that Sinha will not be present at the rally, lakhs of his admirers protested for his absence. Then, Devi Lal himself went to bring Sinha to the rally! Once, Sinha was upset when he was not given cabinet portfolio in the NDA government. The then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vjpayee, then, gave him two portfolios, the ministry of health and family welfare and the ministry of shipping.
