Chennai Express in Maharashtra gets a nod from Raj Thackeray

Director Rohit Shetty has got clearance for the release of his upcoming directorial project Chennai Express. Black clouds were hovering on the project as MNS Chitrapat Sena (Film Wing) chief Amey Khopkar threatened Rohit Shetty that he will not let Chennai Express hit the screens. But Rohit has assured that the film will move swiftly after he had a meeting with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. Actually, MNS doesn’t want Chennai Express to replace Marathi film Duniyadari, which is doing well from the day of its release i.e. July 19. As per the buzz Rohit was demanding for prime slots on single screen cinemas and as well as in some multiplexes in the Mumbai where Duniyadari is running houseful.

To solve this problem, both the directors, Rohit and Sanjay Jadhav (director of Duniyadari) called Thackeray to which he concluded that his party has no objection on Chennai Express if Duniyadari is not removed from small screens. This means that Chennai Express will be screened only in multiplexes.A letter has also been sent to all single screen theatres that they will not give priority to Chennai Express over Duniyadari. The Marathi flick starring Swapnil Joshi and Urmila Kanitkar in the lead is a story of a journey of a wealthy youngster. The film has a good commercial value in the market and has grossed Rs. 5 crore till yet.
