The latest track from Chennai Express is an ode to the Superstar from the Bollywood baadshah and Meenamma, Deepika Padukone Shahrukh Khan will soon be seen in a Rajinikanth avatar in the Lungi song from Chennai Express. Titled Thalaivar Tribute, this song was specially composed by controversial rapper Honey Singh. And King Khan confessed in a recent interview that he is a huge fan of the global icon: ‘Who isn’t a fan of ‘The Rajnikanth’? I had met Honey Singh and Bhushan Kumar five days back and heard the song, which is titled Thalaivar Tribute. I found it very apt for Rajini sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have. Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song, because even she is a huge fan of him. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajnikanth style!’
SRK’s Rajini connection goes further back in time, long before he started work on Chennai Express. He roped in the Superstar for a very short and oh-so-sweet fight sequence in Ra.One – in fact, the southern icon shot for a cameo in that superhero film despite being unwell at the time. And Deepika Padukone, of course, stars in the long-delayed Kochadaiyaan, remember? Guess it’s time for King (Rahul) Khan and his Meenamma to reciprocate the large heated gesture; what better way to do so than add in this special song dedicated to Thalaivar! Now we know Rajini’s inimitable style has been aped by, many including SRK, so we just have to wonder what’s new that choreographer Chinni Prakash will bring to the dance floor this time around. Any guesses?
