The skin show on the poster of model-turned actor Poonam Pandey’s debut film Nasha has angered many residents of northeast Delhi’s Seemapuri. On Friday, nearly 30 residents tore up the poster and barged into the local police station to protest.

“Such nudity is unacceptable, especially during Ramzan. The first thing devotees see after offering prayers at the mosque is the unholy sight. We will file a writ petition against this soon,” said Samir Khan, a protester.

The crowd first burnt the poster and then claimed to have filed an FIR. Meanwhile, the film’s production house has replaced the poster with another, but Khan said the crowd will remove that too. The film producers, however, did not seem worried. “All the posters have been cleared by the Censor Board. If they have filed an FIR, we will fight against that. We’ll also try to talk to people and try to put up the poster again,” said Aditya Bhatia, the producer.

When contacted, Pandey said she was shocked at the incident. “I am just entertaining my fans. If my apologies can calm down the situation, I will even do that,” she said. The actor also has plans to visit the police station.

Deepak Mishra, special commissioner of police (law and order) said the police had neither received any such complaint nor were they aware of Pandey’s supposed visit to the Seemapuri police station.
