Today's big release: Ship Of Theseus, D-Day and Ramaiya Vastavaiya

Today the box office is full of options. From drama to espionage thriller to romantic comedy. First up is Anand Gandhi's film Ship Of Theseus which has already received critical acclaim in several film festivals across the globe. The movie, presented by Kiran Rao, is hitting theatres in five cities - Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. The movie revolves around three characters - a photographer, monk and a stock-broker, exploring the ideas of identity, beauty and death. The film has received a positive response from Bollywood. "It (Ship Of Theseus) makes you feel very inferior as a filmmaker, it's that brilliant. It is such a film which I cannot make as I neither have the talent nor strength to make such a beautiful film," said filmmaker Karan Johar in an interview. Anurag Kashyap called it, "The most brilliant film to have been made in India in decades. Puts all of us to shame."

The second of the lot is Nikhil Advani's D-Day featuring Rishi Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Irrfan Khan, Huma Qureshi and Shruti Haasan. The film is about terrorism and bringing back India's most wanted man from Pakistan. The third Bollywood release is Prabhu Deva's comic caper Ramaiya Vastavaiya featuring Shruti Haasan and newcomer Girish Kumar. It is about an NRI who falls in love with an Indian girl. Hollywood big releases will see action drama White House Down featuring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal, and supernatural horror film The Conjuring featuring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson.
