Karan Johar moves out of Shahid’s way

A couple of days ago, Karan Johar postponed the release of his film Ungli from September 6 to September 20, the very same day Rajkumar Santoshi's Phata Poster Nikla Hero starring Shahid Kapoor is set to hit the marquee. Tongues have been wagging ever since and buzz is, Karan may have deliberately delayed his film to clash with Shahid's movie, given the duo's rather tumultous history. Apparently, it started with Shahid opting out of Karan's Kaal for some reason after which, he was offered another film from Karan's stable, I Hate Luv Storys, which too he didn't do for reasons best known to him. Then again, Shahid lost out to Imran Khan as leading man in Karan's Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. However, putting an end to their 'differences', on Friday evening, Shahid met up with Karan at the Dharma office (Khar) and requested him to relook at the commercial viability of two films releasing on the same day and the possibility of him changing the release date of Ungli.

Karan relented and Shahid was very happy. Looks like it could be the beginning of a new chapter in the Karan Shahid equation. When contacted, Karan said: "There have been too many stories in the past about Shahid and I having friction. Today, I want to go on record to say that we have no problems with each other. Yes, I have moved Ungli. I will announce the new date very soon. Shahid met me in this regard and I agreed. My dad used to say, 'If you are a member of the industry and not for your fraternity, then you have no right to be here'."
