The 'Masto ka Jhund' song, from BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG, from the time it has been released has caught the imagination of the fans. It indeed is a brilliantly choreographed song, that has revived the pristine glory of Bhangra which somehow had got diffused owing to the various attempts to mix it up with contemporary beats. Best part of the song is that there are forty people dancing to the earthy music, and even earthier lyrics, but there is no synchronization and coordination amongst the dancers, a rather norm of the song these days, where each dancer appears as if they are working as a cog of the wheel for a harmony and present a sanitized effect, and this is what 'Maston Ka Jhund' has achieved.Each of the forty participants are dancing in gay abandon to their own rhythm including Farhan Akhtar and this in essence is what Bhangra is all about, or for that matter any dance where the dancer should enjoy the dancing rather than convey a feeling of angst in trying to conform to a choreographed move, more like a physical exercise training which has become the norm of the songs of Hindi cinema these days. When a common man is dancing, and that too to celebrate an occasion that is how all of them dance, each in his own groovy way completely submerged in the occasion, and the final effect that is arrived at is what Masto Ka Jhund has achieved.

What could also be amongst the firsts for this song would be the fact that the song has been set to amazing lyrics by Prasoon Joshi, which have not been interspersed with Punjabi words, but it has been packaged with Hindi words, and this is what further adds to the charm of the song. Perhaps the idea of using such lyrics could be to connote the fact that for the dancers the lyrics are not important per se, and it has its value for the listener and the observer, the participant just immerses himself into the ambiance. Without any traditional Punjabi gears, which had become a sine quo non for the Bhangra songs in Hindi songs, the attire given to the participants does not have any gloss but it is the attire which a common man wears at his home and it also conveys a feeling of comfort for the occasion. One only hopes that the manner in which Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has deconstructed Bhangra through his biopic BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG and restored it to its pristine glory, the sheen would continue to enthrall the audience subsequently as well.
