Last time when director Ashuu Trikha got some good critical acclaim coming his way, it was for his gangster flick BAABARR. Now that he is ready with his ENEMMY, he promises that despite cops, gangsters and politicians involved, this isn't one of those regular 'masala' affairs and has a lot more credibility attached to it. Says Ashuu, ''Of course, there is no denying the fact that it is a commercial entertainer. It has the kind of elements like action, emotion and drama which bring people in. Fair enough, but then all of that comes in due to a definite story and the plot. Most interestingly, it has a screenplay that keeps you engaged. The plotting of the film is very intriguing; especially in the way the story unravels.'' This is the reason why he wants to pitch the film differently than many other commercial action entertainers have done in the recent past.

''See, there are certain things that have been inherent to commercial entertainment from the time of inception of Indian, or for that matter world cinema,'' he reasons, ''Basically people want to come and get entertained as they suspend their belief. They are transported to the world you have created as a filmmaker and the story you want to tell. However, the story of ENEMMY is absolutely contemporary. In fact to a certain extent it has politics involved as well. Still, it isn't a regular cop versus gangster drama. The film is far deeper.'' We would like to see that once this film starring Mithun Chakraborty, Suniel Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Johny Lever and Zakir Hussain releases this Friday.
