Bollywood battles Mumbai rains

While the shooting for Kareena Kapoor-Imran Khan starrer Gori Tere Pyar Mein was stalled due to rains, Subhash Ghai's sets for Kaanchi were drenched in the downpour. We find out how film and TV shoots are dealing with the monsoon. Thuppaki remake Akshay Kumar was shooting for the Vipual Shah production in the city on Monday. But when the rains came in, Shah accepted that there was “inconvenience.” Apparently, there was waterlogging right outside the sets. “We didn’t stop the shoot but it did trouble us since the generators and other equipment had to be moved in,” says Shah. Ad film shoot On Monday, actor Varun Dhawan was supposed to shoot for an ad for an electronics company. But due to the rains, the team from Japan couldn’t reach in time to coordinate the shoot, which had to be cancelled ultimately. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein The Kareena Kapoor-Imran Khan starrer was being shot at Wai when the rains played spoilsport and stalled the shoot.

The cast and crew came back on Monday from Wai, despite having two days of shooting left. “We had to come back, the weather didn’t permit us to shoot,” says an insider from the unit. Kaanchi A few days ago, Subhash Ghai had erected an expensive set at Film City for his next, Kaanchi. But with the downpour, there has been no shoot for around three days now. On Monday too, the shoot — with Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor was cancelled. “Yes, we have rescheduled the shoot date. What’s the option otherwise? We will try again tomorrow,” says Ghai.' Hasee Toh Phasee Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra were all set to film a romantic sequence in Marine Drive for the Karan Johar production, but thanks to the monsoon, ad filmmaker Vinil Mathew’s shoot had to be rescheduled.
