The CB-CID served fresh summons to city-based hotelier Vikram Aggarwal here on Friday. The summons stated that he can appear before the investigating agency anytime before Thursday. The hotelier was earlier summoned by the CB-CID to appear before it for questioning on May 30 after they established links between him and city-based betting kingpin Kitty alias Uttam C Jain. However, Aggarwal who was also summoned by the Mumbai Police for an interrogation on May 31, preferred to appear before the Mumbai cops ignoring the summons of the CB-CID. Even after being let off by the Mumbai Police, Aggarwal did not turn himself in before the CB-CID. On Wednesday, the hotelier’s wife Vandana presented a petition seeking a week’s time for him to appear before the CB-CID citing health reasons. Sources said that the request was accepted by the agency after careful consideration.
He can appear anytime before the week-long deadline expired, failing which the agency will initiate legal action. So far, the investigating agency has arrested 10 persons on charges of betting and cheating during the latest edition of the IPL. Meanwhile, Gurunath Meiyyappan, Team Principal of Chennai Super Kings and son-in-law of BCCI top honcho N Srinivasan, reached Chennai after being released on bail in a case of betting registered by the Mumbai police. Gurunath, a close friend Aggarwal, got acquainted to small-time Bollywood actor and bookmaker Vindu Dara Singh through him.
