South Asian arts development agency, sampad, will celebrating 100 years of Bollywood in Birmingham with the launch of Bollywood 100. Taking place this month, the festival will capture the glitz and glamour of Indian music, dance, drama and style with an extensive programme of arts and cultural events that promise to appeal both, to newcomers of the Bollywood phenomenon as well as devoted fans. The festival will include various lively, city-wide arts and culture events throughout June.
Festival highlights include events like Bollywood’s Got Talent competition, Bollywood the Cabaret (a celebration of the music, movement and colour of Bollywood with classical Indian dance fusion, funk, jazz and ballet and movie soundtracks), gala dinner at Edgbaston Stadium, an open-air Mela with dance performances and a live set by vocalist Ambika Jois and Jalsa, which will celebrate Bollywood music. The festival will also include screenings of classic and contemporary Bollywood films at various venues in the city.
