You majored in English literature. Which is that one book you would never read again? I know it is a blasphemy, but it has to be Shakespeare. I never quite got this guy... it might have something to do with the fact that I used to bunk my classes often (chuckles). In college I once played Shylock in Merchant of Venice and during the process I had to read the play so many times, that I don't even want to flip through that book ever again. Are you in touch with your college friends? What is your fondest memory of them? Only recently we had a gettogether at Chandigarh. As for memories, we are still making them! However, I’ll always remember our Chandigarh-Mumbai trips — those 48-hour long journeys in second class compartments of Punjab Mail with the train stopping at every possible station! To keep ourselves entertained, we would bring out our guitars and dholaks and start jamming. These impromptu sessions would impress the fellow passengers so much, that they would hand us 100-rupee notes. By the time we would reach our destination we would have enough money to fund the rest of our trip!
What is your favourite dish? Which place in Chandigarh serves the best variety? Being a Punjabi, my favourite dish has to be the staple Rajma Chawal. Apart from that, I like Chinese and Mughlai. However, if I had to pick a restaurant dish, it would definitely be the chicken curry at Pal Dhaba. Tell us something about your son. Are you an indulgent dad? His name is Virajveer. He has my dimples and my eyelashes and rest he takes after my wife. He is just one-yearold — a tad too young to unleash my indulgent side (laughs). I am still trying to get used to the whole ‘dad’ thing. It has been a hectic year and I hardly got time to spend with him. Do you believe in ghosts? I believe in the supernatural but not in negative forces of nature. Recently, my man Friday committed suicide in my room and I am still staying there. But, we hear you had moved in with Shoojit Sircar after the incident… I had. But not because I was scared of a haunting. I was very close to the person and it was all too emotional for me. Also, my schedule was hectic then and it was more convenient to travel from Shoojit’s place.
