The film has Shilpa Shetty and Chinese actor Xia Yu playing the lead roles. It is a story about dance, music, art, philosophy and love. The pic above shows Shilpa Shetty as a tonsured sanyasin (renouncer) clad in a monk’s robe. However, Shilpa did not shave her head for the role. Rather, she used prosthetic make-up to get the bald look. Each make-up session lasted about three hours.

The Desire is directed by R. Sarath and also stars Anupam Kher, Jayapradha, Vikram Gokhale, and Asif. The film has music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt. The movie has been shot in Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh in India and in various locales in Malayasia. The Desire premiered at the Geneva International Film Festival, where it won the best narrative feature film award. Now, it heads to New York City International Film Festival, 2011, where it will be screened on August 24.
