Ranbir, Anushka to romance in 50's style in ‘Bombay Velvet’Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma has been paired opposite each other in highly anticipated movie of Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ which is based on the backdrop of love, greed, violence and Jazz. The film will tell the story how Bombay became a metropolitan city. The film is inspired from historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. Prakash has also worked on the script of the movie. The movie will go on floor in July 2013 and will release on December 25, 2014. In the movie, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma will play lovers of 1950.

The film will be produced by Fox Star Studios in association with Phantom Films. Anurag has been working on the script from a long time and he is happy that finally his dream project is ready to take off. Ranbir is working on his fitness as he will be playing a street fighter in the movie. He is undergoing training on martial arts and he suffered injury recently during the training session.“I’m on a week-long break. But I have some time as the filming only starts in about two months. I hope my back heals soon so I can resume training quickly,” said Ranbir in a recent interview. “Bombay Velvet is my first film in a trilogy about Bombay, before it became a Metropolis. It's a story that has always fascinated me and we have been developing it for about four years, and I am very excited that now its fully ready and we begin shoot this year," Anurag Kashyap, who is currently at Cannes Film Festival, said in a statement. Phantom Films' Vikas said Bombay Velvet was an "intricately researched and beautifully fictionalised" film.

"We are looking forward to working together with Fox Star to create a phenomenal cinematic experience of this story for the big screen," Bahl added. Amit Trivedi is composing the music of the film, which will have a touch of the 60s. Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, India said, "We are delighted to partner with Anurag on his next directorial venture Bombay Velvet. One of the best storytellers we have today, Anurag will bring alive Bombay in its original glory."
