Bollywood’s most giving superstar, the fearless and fabulous Salman Khan is all set to launch yet another Kaif into the Hindi film industry. Universally touted as the man who discovered and introduced the lovely Katrina Kaif to Bollywood, it now appears that Salman is to do the same for Katrina’s younger sister, Isabella Kaif. Salman Khan Being Human (SKBH) Productions is producing a Canadian film, ‘Dr. Cabbie’.
The film stars the beautiful younger sibling of Katrina as the female lead, in association with two Canadian companies — FirstTake Entertainment and Caramel Film. Isabella has been spotted hobnobbing with the Bollywood fraternity sporadically over the last few years. Reports of her Bollywood debut had been doing the rounds, when the buzz was that she would be debuting in a crossover film opposite Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan. It was later claimed that Katrina was in talks with ‘Wake up Sid’ director Ayan Mukherjee, to launch her baby sister; but none of these rumours turned out to be true.
Said a spokesperson at Eros, which is distributing ‘Dr. Cabbie’, about Isabella’s casting: “Isabelle went through the audition process like all the other actors. She was cast based on her performance and only because she was a perfect fit for the role.”‘Dr. Cabbie’ is a tale of a young Indian doctor, played by Vinay Virmani, who is fresh off the boat in Canada and is forced to take up work as a taxi driver, after being unable to find work at the local medical schools. Directed by renowned, award-winning Canadian director Jean-François Pouliot, the film also stars Kunal Nayyar (of The Big Bang Theory fame) and is presently being shot in Toronto, Canada. The budget is reportedly $25 million.
