Even as 'Go Goa Gone' was being screened for the Censor Board last Friday, makers Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru were rather nervous about the censors' verdict, given that their zomcom has more than its fair share of violence and gore. However, they were in for a surprise. Turns out the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has given the film an A-rating but without a single cut.
When contacted, Nidimoru confirmed the news and said, "We are quite happy with the decision of the censors. A zombie film naturally lends itself to an A rating. What is the fun in such a film if it's too clean?" Talking to TOI at length, Nidimoru said there are many things in the film that they were apprehensive about, and felt they would be asked to cut the same. "There are several scenes with blood, some colloquial gaalis being used, a rave party and so on.
We were anxious we would be asked to shave off all this and that would severely take the edge out of our zombie film. We are glad that the censor board saw the film in the right perspective. It's meant to be a fun film, with certain adult elements." A source close to Nidimoru told TOI: "Even on the way to the screening, Raj was very nervous and was mentally prepared for cuts. But he had also decided to accept the censors' verdict."
Apparently, Nidimoru and DK got a call in the evening, informing them their film had got an A certificate. "But the bigger news for them was being told it had passed without any cuts. They were extremely happy," said the source. Said Nidimoru: "The humour and other A-rated elements in the film are done very tastefully, and not meant to be offensive. Adults can have some unbridled fun and entertainment. And leave their kids at home..."
