A performance by Bollywood actress Sunny Leone, who was scheduled to perform in a nightclub in Dubai, was cancelled at the last minute on Friday. A notice posted outside the club, Domeland by Chi, read: “Due to last minute rejection from DTCM [Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing], Sunny Leone would not be able to perform with us. However, do enjoy the night with DJ Shadow, Hani and Bollywood dancers”.
According to organiser Javed Shafi of Premiere House Productions, all those who had purchased tickets to see Leone were refunded and the entry was made free for the night as opposed to the Dh100 tickets at the door. Leone, who arrived in Dubai on Tuesday, left for India at 5pm on Friday. During her Dubai visit, she spoke to the local press at length and toured Dubai’s top attractions, including the Burj Khalifa, and went on a desert safari. Upon reaching India, she tweeted: “My intention is always to put on a great event and everything happened last min and not sure why. I hope to be back soon. Love you Dubai!”.
“I’m so sorry to everyone in dubai who came out.”
