Socialising is a full-time job, says Prachi Desai

Actor Prachi Desai, who made an efflortless transition from television to films, is now pretty much settled, in terms of the choice of films and the roles she is being offered. The actor, who is currently shooting for Bol Bachchan with actor Abhishek Bachchan, says this film is very special for her. Besides her co-star, what she’s most excited about is a special dance number that she recently shot for the film. “I personally look at item numbers as any other trend. When I was in school, it was the ‘in’ thing and now it has just come back.

Since I am from the industry, I am a little biased I believe that item numbers are being shot aesthetically now, and to all the women who are getting offers, it’s great. I haven’t done one as yet, but I would like to because I love dancing,” says Prachi. The actor is also super excited about working with Abhishek and actor John Abraham. “Besides having to match up with them, considering they are so tall, both are super energetic. You need to have like four Espresso shots to be able to match the energy they exude on set,” she gushes.

The petite actor, who was also in the news for her alleged fallout with mentor and best friend, TV czarina Ekta Kapoor, says things are fine between them. In an industry, where friendships are termed fickle, Prachi does agree that it takes time to forge a bond and then continue the association. “Things are absolutely fine with Ekta and me. By God’s grace, all her films have done extremely well, and I always wish her well. I did call her and Shobha aunty to convey my wishes. They are like family and will always be,” she says.

Reflecting on the subject, she continues, “Personally, any friends that I have made have always been because I have instantly connected with that person. It does get difficult to maintain friendships in Bollywood because there is really no time to invest. In our industry, socialising is like a full time job where you sort of have to go out and be seen,” she says.
